Our CPD short course in Myofascial Dry Cupping  / Clinical Cupping is designed for those who are looking to use Dry Cupping modalities professionally within massage therapy, injury treatment and rehabilitation.
This course focuses on the use of Dry Cupping Therapy from a Western perspective and the muscular-skeletal system.

Our course is open to Sports and Massage Therapists at Level 3 or above, Sport and Exercise Scientists, Sports Therapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists as continued professional development. 

Our Online CPD short course is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the Sports Therapy Organisation and is insurable by the FHT, the STO, Balens and BGI.

Course Design

This course focuses on the application and theory behind the use of Dry Cupping Therapy from a Western perspective.

This highly practical Online course, is delivered using a hands-on approach, therefore you will be expected to practise the techniques whilst watching demonstration videos.

You’ll receive lifetime access to the course material, so you can watch the demonstration videos as often as you would like to.

 

This course is designed in relation to industry standards and is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the Sports Therapy Organisation and provides 8 Continual Professional Development hours (CPD).

Course Assessment Method:

On completion of the online lessons you are required to complete a video assessment to demonstrate competence of Dry Cupping use. This assessment is explained within the online course and you are asked to send this in via email, within two weeks post course completion. 

 Overview of Course

  • Introduction to Dry Cupping Therapy
  • Theory and physiology of Dry Cupping Therapy
  • Contraindications and Health and Safety considerations
  • Application of use within Sports Massage Therapy and other therapy contexts.
  • Integration of Dry Cupping within therapy treatment
  • Demonstration and Application of Dry Cupping Therapy,

Techniques covered Include:

    • static cupping,
    • flash cupping,
    • sliding,
    • soft Tissue Release techniques and
    • Active Movement,
    • Plus some stretching techniques for active release will be reviewed on a range of areas. 

Example Areas covered: 

  • Lower limb including plantar fascia
  • Upper limb and deltiod region
  • Glutes from side lying
  • Abdomen
  • Pectoral region
  • Wider back region including sliding to the upper traps 
  • Plus example Dry Cupping stretching techniques.

You will need a cupping kit to practise the techniques covered within this Online CPD short course.

Entry Requirements & background

Course applicants must be 17 years old or over and must hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Sports Massage Therapy or Massage Therapy.

Applicants should have also been practising Sports or Massage Therapy for a period of time prior to enrolling on this course.

This course focuses on the application and theory behind the use of Dry Cupping Therapy from a Western perspective. The use of Dry Cupping Therapy within Sports and Remedial Massage treatment will be discussed along with benefit in relation to manual massage techniques.

On completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate effective use and application of Dry Cupping Therapy in the management of Sports Massage Therapy and injury treatment in a safe and effective manner and will have a clear understanding of contraindications for treatment.

Taught by Dawn Morse BSc, PGCE, MSc

Dawn has a Masters Degree in Sports and Health Sciences, is a qualified teacher and is a Sports Massage Therapist.
Dawn was the programme leader for the University of Bath Sports Therapy Foundation Degree and lectured on the BSc programme for 9 years and is currently an associate lecturer for the Open University.
Dawn is the founder of Core Elements which provides regular training courses in Sports Massage and Sports Therapy modalities.
